Community Threads Project

The health benefits of knitting and crocheting are acknowledged in medical literature. These activities have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure and promote health and wellbeing.

ACT Health has provided GOG with funding to supply up to 80 free “Starter Packs” for people wanting to learn knitting and crocheting during the current Covid-19 pandemic. Each Starter Pack includes knitting needles, crochet hooks, yarn, and patterns. You will also be invited to join in person Working Bees, and on-line meetings while one-on-one tuition can be arranged depending on your current situation.

If you would like to take part in this project, we would like to ask you to answer a survey at the beginning and then again after three months. This is so that we can see if taking part in our project has benefited you in any way to assist us with future initiatives and with reporting our findings to ACT Health. Your individual responses will be anonymised and kept confidential. However, you can receive a copy of the results of the study in the future if you would like. You can withdraw from the program at any time.

If you have any questions about this project, please don’t hesitate to email us at info@goodomengoodeze.org.au or call Mary on 0415 464291 or Jenny on 0481706966.
