FEEDBACK FRIDAY

We want to take a moment to reflect and share this wonderful feedback from the team at the Gungahlin Walk-In Centre.💜💚

GOG Goodies are brought to life with care and love, but also with clinical outcomes in mind – they are a way of helping patients, healthcare staff and families.🫶

Thank you to the WIC staff and everyone else who has contributed their expertise, so we can make our Goodies as powerful as they can be! 💪

“Last week a little girl came in after a fall at school. She was nervous, tearful, and tightly clutching her sleeve, unsure of what would happen next. One of our nurses offered her one of your hand-knitted flower bracelets.

At first, she hesitated—but when she saw the soft pink petals and the cheerful centre, her face lit up. It was more than just a bracelet to her; it became a symbol of safety, something gentle and comforting in an unfamiliar place. She wore it proudly, showed it to her mum, and even asked the nurse if she could “keep it forever.” She became very relaxed and the nurse was able to really assess her arm.

That small bracelet created a shift—not just in her mood, but in her whole experience. By the time she left, she was smiling, holding her bracelet up like a trophy of courage.

From a clinical perspective, these comfort items are incredibly valuable. They help ease anxiety and provide a sensory focus, especially for children who may be overwhelmed by a clinical setting. The bracelets, in particular, are not only soothing to the touch but are also safe, portable, and visually engaging. Our team often uses them as a “bridge” between medical care and emotional reassurance. They’re a gentle, non-verbal way of saying, ‘You’re safe here’.

Beyond the clinical benefit, these small handmade gifts represent compassion. They remind our patients—and us—that healing isn’t just about medicine, but also about kindness and connection.”
