Every week we hear stories that remind us just how powerful your handmade goodness really is — not just in keeping someone warm, but in opening doors, softening moments, and reminding people that they matter. We wanted to share it with you, because this is the ripple effect of your work:![]()

“I recently set up a renal supportive care nurse clinic at Belconnen Health Centre and at Canberra Hospital. Many of the clients who attend the clinics will be planning their future. To try and soften the clinic space I used a blanket to drape over a spare chair and put a knitted chook on the desk. The first client walked in and straight away commented on the blanket, asking me if I crocheted. What moved me so much was the tone of the conversation was set. We talked as 2 people meeting for the first time, not as clinician and patient. The blanket was the great equaliser. I told the client it was hers to take home. She then shared that she’d just been given a home by ACT Housing. She had been homeless as she wasn’t able to work due to ill-health. The woman left with 2 blankets and a beanie to keep her cosy in her new home. It never fails to impress me, as an old chook (pun intended) how deeply impactful those knitted goods are. Please pass on sincere thanks to the crafters. Their work makes a difference.” – Renal Support Care.
This. Right here. This is why GOG exists. Your stitches are more than stitches. They’re connection, dignity, warmth, and hope. ![]()
