Happy Friday and welcome to October!
This Feedback Friday, we wanted to thank the family member who shared this feedback from their experience when a loved one was admitted to hospital. In incredibly difficult circumstances, we are so glad that a GOG Goodie was able to bring some calm and comfort
“My mother was admitted to hospital in a state of delirium. It was distressing to see her so agitated and disoriented, especially as she struggled to find something—anything—that could ground her in the moment. Amidst the medical equipment and clinical surroundings, it was one of your handmade comfort items—a soft, knitted doll —that became her anchor.
The moment she held it in her hands, she said it reminded her of her own mother—my grandmother—who used to knit her little toys and blankets when she was a child. In the haze of confusion, it helped her reconnect with a time and person that brought her some peace and safety, and made her calm.
It gave her a tangible connection to love, memory, and calmness amidst her distress. For me, seeing that sense of comfort return meant the world.
Please pass on my thanks to the volunteer that made the doll.”

Thank you to all our volunteers, who pour their time, skills and care into every donation!! And to the community members who take the time to share their stories – we are incredibly grateful
