August was a big month for our Ginninderry meetups – full of creativity, connection, and gratitude.
We wrapped up our exhibition last month, and it was such a joy to welcome some lovely new faces who joined us after seeing our work on display. It’s always special to see how our goodies and gatherings spark interest and bring new people into the fold.
We were also thrilled to host some very special guests and show them firsthand the magic of our workshops – made possible through their generous funding. It was a wonderful chance to share the impact of their support and the community that has grown around it.
One of the most heartwarming moments this month came from our youngest but seasoned member, just 8 years old, who noticed a new member in our midst – off his own initiative he carefully crocheted a chain bracelet to make her feel welcome saying ‘you look like you’re new to this group, would you like this bracelet I just made?’ It made her day! That simple act of kindness captures exactly what these groups are all about – making everyone feel valued and at home.
We are deeply grateful to the ACT Government for their past support, and to Ginninderry for helping us continue these gatherings into the next year. What started as a group of just three people has blossomed into over 50 regular attendees – a testament to the need, the creativity, and the love within our community.
To our wonderful members – thank you. Every week, you put such care and heart into each project, often stepping into new territory with courage and enthusiasm. It’s your support and your willingness to create with love that keeps this group thriving.
