The following is the child size pattern for the Mobius Shawl that has been very popular with members as well as patients! Shawls are great for patients who are in bed long term, or for when patients are taken outside or on balconies for fresh air, especially in the cooler months. If they are large enough they can also be used to pull over heads for those patients who don’t like to wear beanies to keep warm.

To make it work for our purposes in ICU, chain about 200 (depending on wool thickness) so you end up with 100DC & 100 chain spaces.
I recommend doing your chain on a hook size larger than the one you use for the shawl. Also to ensure that the starting row of chain stretches well and is less noticeable, I find it works better to work into the back of the chain (the ‘bumps’ or ‘pearls’) instead of the front.

I’d like to make an adult size Twisty Cowl but I’m unsure of how many chains are needed? Assuming its a similar pattern to the child’s twisty cowl pattern on the GOG pattern website. Thankz heaps! Cj
Hi Corinna,
The adult twisty can have anywhere between 60 and 120 beginning chains depending on your yarn and hook size. I always just measure it on myself. Since we need shawls of many different sizes whatever size you make will be perfect! There are many adult shawl patterns on Youtube if that helps. Thanks so much Cj!
