Ready, set, KNIT with Good Omen Goodeze this World Wide Knit In Public Day
Grab your knitting needles and get ready for a yarn: World Wide Knit In Public Day is on its way.
It’s the ultimate celebration of all things crafty and this year Good Omen Goodeze (affectionately known as GOG) is gathering—get it?—at Westfield Belconnen on Saturday 11 June to celebrate.
Founded by Mary Liondi-Barlow in 2017, GOG is a Canberra-based community needle-craft group that provides personalised hand-crafted comfort ‘goodies’ and focuses on the mental health benefits linked to knitting, donating much-needed items to the Canberra Hospital.
Spreading their love and sharing their Gogsters with the wider community, this World Wide Knit In Public Day they’re calling for local stitchers and knitters to come together to make something special.
You can go along to spend some time knitting or crocheting a square for a blanket to be donated to the Canberra Hospital, bring your own project to work on the day, or simply drop in to have a chat with like-minded people for some purls of wisdom.
But if you’re hooked on knitting and looking for something more to do, get excited—GOG is also calling for the snazziest Gogsters for a special competition! That’s right, if you knit the most creative Gogsters (think big, creative, colourful, and crazy) you’ll win a prize. It’s a chance to show GOG what you’ve got.
Drop your Gogster off at one of the GOG drop-off points if you can’t make it on the day (make sure you give them a name and put your name and phone number in the bag), or come on down to World Wide Knit In Public Day and bring your Gogster with you!
Simply head to their website and fill in the entry form and transfer the $5 entrance fee to their bank account or bring it with you on the day.
What are you waiting for? Ready, set, KNIT!
GOG wants to give a huge thank you to Erin Cross for her piece! see the post here!
