Happy International Women’s Day!
Today we‘re celebrating our female-identifying GOG members and each and every one of you, from the nurses and doctors to our own volunteers.
This past weekend, GOG has been celebrating #IWD2023 with a range of activities, from attending CBR GRRRLS To The Front at The Basement Canberra to a special #workingbee with Mrs Pat Wood OAM in attendance.
We were incredibly honoured to be invited to hold a stall at the GRRRLS To The Front event on Saturday. Cat, Mary, and Zoe got to listen to incredibly talented Australian women’s bands while connecting with women-centric volunteer groups and sharing GOG with the community. It was a fantastic night.
We also had a special working bee at the ANU last Sunday, where Mrs Pat Wood OAM, Founder and Coordinator of the Mission Stitchin’ Sewing Group, joined us for a lovely afternoon! Pat shared with us the amazing work she and her sewing group have dedicated themselves to over the past 20 years, including their continued support and generous donations to the children of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Many thanks to Pat for inspiring us, we couldn’t do what we do without the contributions of so many amazing women like you!
It was also great to see some new members joining our working bee, as well as some existing GOG members coming back to us on Sunday. Thank you all for coming along and we hope you all enjoyed the talk from Pat, as well as some crafts and conversations as usual!
