We love to hear feedback from our Walk in Centre staff and this week, we’re sharing some about the wristbands our volunteers have been crafting!
The nurses have let us know that these bright, colorful bands are doing so much more than just bringing smiles—they’ve become an essential therapeutic tool during patient visits and here’s how they are putting your hard work to use:
Breaking the ice: Using them to build instant rapport with anxious children as soon as they walk through the clinic doors.
A handy distraction: Keeping little minds occupied and calm during treatments and procedures.
Calming nerves: Helping kids regulate their emotions when a healthcare visit feels a bit overwhelming.
“The care, creativity, and kindness that go into every single wristband make a real difference to the wellbeing of our young patients and their families. Thank you for helping us create moments of comfort, connection, and joy when they are needed most.” Walk-in Centre Nursing Team
A quick tip for our makers: These wristbands are the ultimate stash-buster! They are a fantastic way to use up those small, leftover bits of yarn, and because they take no time at all to make, they’re the perfect “palette cleanser” when you need a quick break from a bigger project.
To every single volunteer who has whipped up a wristband: thank you. Your hands and hearts are making a stressful clinic visit just that little bit easier for so many children.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Keep those hooks hooking and needles clicking! 🧶 💙
